GPS specialists Garmin have kick-started 2015 with the launch three new products. Described as an ‘uncompromising GPS sport Watch’ and utilising both GPS and GLONASS the fēnix 3 boasts features that support a full range of sports activities from trail running to advanced fitness training, triathlon, cycling, skiing and hiking. The slimmer housing is glass-fibre reinforced with stainless steel buttons making the watch water rated up to 100 meters and is available in three versions: ‘Silver’ with a red band and crystal lens, ‘Grey’ with a black band and the premium ‘Sapphire’ with a stainless steel band and domed sapphire lens. Bundle variations of the fēnix 3 will retail for between £369.99 and £479.99.
Featuring the same new steel EXO antenna for GPS and GLONASS as the fēnix 3 the Garmin epix is a rugged hands-free navigator with detailed mapping that comes preloaded with Recreational Map Europe, a worldwide shaded relief basemap, a free 1-year subscription to BirdsEye Satellite Imagery and 8GB of memory for additional maps. With a 1.4” colour touchscreen display the Garmin epic will be available from February at £419.99.
Finally Garmin have also released the vívoactive – a lightweight and ultra-thin GPS smartwatch with built-in sports and activity tracking apps which picks up where the likes of the vivofit and vivosmart left off. Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales says: ‘Designed to be worn all day, vívoactive can be personalized in many ways – from interchangeable bands to watch faces, apps and widgets – making it versatile, stylish and functional for your life.’ Vívoactive will be available in black or white from March and will have a suggested retail price of £199.99 or £229.99 when bundled with a heart rate monitor.
