Winter and shoulder-month running often demands a more substantial approach to what we wear on our legs and the Men’s Laser Leggings from Crewroom offer up both warmth and protection from biting wind.
Made from an exceptionally soft-to-the-skin moss jersey fabric the Crewroom Laser Leggings are a snug fit that still allows for plenty of range of motion and don’t restrict the stride or form. Wicking – although never a great issue on the bottom half of the body – is effective and despite the thickness they ‘breath’ well. However on the subject of thickness they are, in our opinion, overly heavy for longer runs. A medium pair comes in at a little over 300g and whilst weight may arguably equate to warmth it’s not the thickness of the material but rather the bulk of zips, trim and waistband (all be it a perfectly comfortable one) that adds all those extra grams.
Attention to detail– always a strength with Crewroom apparel – is well thought through. Decent zips with tags that are cold-finger-friendly are surrounded by reflective strips as is the rear zipped pocket (big enough really only for a key rather than for the advertised gel stashing.) The waistband, comfortable as already noted, adjusts with a drawstring but we could really have done without the metal aglets on the end – cold to the stomach as they are.
Horses for courses; there will be plenty who will love the weight and substantial construction on offer in the Crewroom Laser Leggings and indeed we found much to admire for shorter distances, they just didn’t quite go the distance for us in the long run…
The Laser Leggings retail at £69 and are available in sizes S to XL. Further details at crewroom.co.uk
