The adult race with a 3.8mile, 12.4mile and 2mile run/bike/run format takes place is entirely on forest trail. The run routes are mildly undulating and the bike route is run over four laps, passing through transition on each lap offering plenty of crowd support, and serving up one steep incline of about 50m in length (no problem, say the organisers, if you want to get off and walk…)
Whilst the adult TriPurbeckSika Duathlon starts at 11am, the day’s action begins from 9am with a series of under-14 events ranging from a 400m/800m/200m for 8-year-olds to the 1600m/3200m/800m for those aged 14-14 (Tristar 3s). Again, the terrain is entirely forest trail but the run route is a flat out-and-back and the bike route is run over an 800m lap and is not technically demanding.
Various prizes on offer through all categories. Entry fees range from £12 (for members) to £21 for non-BTF athletes. Full details at tripurbeck.com
